How is Candida vulvovaginitis treated best?

Patient's question:

Now, every time I go to the bathroom, it causes pain. I don't know what's causing this, and I'm now looking here to ask for advice. How should I treat candidal vulvovaginitis?

Doctor's answer:

Considering your condition, vulvovaginal candidiasis can cause itching of the external genitalia, burning pain in the vulva and vagina, increased vaginal discharge resembling cottage cheese, and sometimes accompanied by frequent urination, urinary urgency, and dysuria. During masturbation, pain may also occur. During a gynecological examination, white membranous material can be observed adhering to the inner side of the labia minora and the vaginal mucosa. After removal, a red and swollen mucosal surface is revealed. In the acute phase, areas of erosion or superficial ulcers may be visible.
It is recommended that you visit a regular hospital for examination. Clotrimazole tablets should be inserted into the vagina, and the external genitalia should be treated with clotrimazole cream. Both partners should be treated simultaneously. During treatment, sexual activity is strictly prohibited, and new, clean, and sterilized underwear should be worn daily. A follow-up examination should be conducted after the menstrual period. Only when three consecutive gynecological examinations and microscopic examinations of vaginal secretions show no abnormalities can the condition be considered fully cured.
