Features: This book is adapted from The Complete Story of Yue Fei. As early as the late Southern Song Dynasty, the deeds of Yue Fei's resistance against the Jin invaders became a theme for storytellers. After the Yuan Dynasty was established, the story of Yue Fei was brought to the theater stage. In the early Qing Dynasty, Qian Cai of Ren'an restructured and reorganized the original storyline of The Popular Romance of the Great Song's Restoration, cutting down the narrative and highlighting Yue Fei as the central figure, thus writing The Complete Story of Yue Fei. It consists of 20 volumes and 80 chapters. This book tells the legendary story of Yue Fei, the anti-Jin hero of the Southern Song Dynasty. When Yue Fei was only three days old, his hometown of Tangyin County suffered a flood, and his father was lost. His mother carried him to safety on a boat. They drifted to Neihuang County, where he was taken in by Wang Ming. Under his mother's strict tutelage, Yue Fei learned to read and write. He also learned martial arts from Zhou Ting, along with Wang Gui and others, becoming both literary and martial in his youth. Yue Fei and his sworn brothers, such as Wang Gui and Niu Gao, went to the capital to take the military examination. Due to a misunderstanding involving his spear, which led to trouble with the young Prince of Liang, he fled back to his hometown. Soon after, Gao Zong of Jin launched an invasion southward, capturing Emperors Huizong and Qinzong. The Prince of Kang fled back to the capital and was enthroned, summoning Yue Fei to resist the Jin. At the Battle of Niutou in Shandong Province, Yue Fei decisively defeated Gao Zong of Jin and was promoted to Grand Marshal. He then led his army northward, defeating the Jin forces decisively at Zhuxian Town. Just as Yue Fei was preparing to launch a direct attack on Huanglong Fu, Qin Hui, a traitor sent by Gao Zong, sent twelve golden medals to recall Yue Fei, framing him with the charge of "imaginary crimes" and executing him along with Yue Lei and Zhang Xian at Fengbo Pavilion. Soon after, Qin Hui died, and Emperor Gaozong passed away. Emperor Xiaozong exonerated Yue Fei and had his name cleared. Yue Lei led the young warriors of Yue's army to decisively defeat the Jin forces.
