Essays on the Allied Forces' War against Japan in the Anti-Fascist War—A Collection of Essays on the History of World War II is a thematic anthology of essays selected and compiled by Professor Xu Kangming of Yunnan University from his published works over more than two decades of research and teaching. The collection includes 21 essays, totaling 420,000 words. All the essays are divided into three parts:
Part 1 is titled "The Unconditional Surrender Policy of the Anti-Fascist Allies and the Precursors and Consequences of Japan's Conditional Surrender." It primarily addresses two issues: First, it studies and explores the formation process and role of the unconditional surrender policy of the Anti-Fascist Allies. Second, it analyzes the process of Japan's surrender, proposing a new perspective that Japan sought a "conditional surrender" and discusses the impact of Japan's conditional surrender.
Part 2 is titled "The War against Japan by the Three Major Allied Powers—China, the United States, and the United Kingdom—in the China-Burma-India Theater." The essays cover topics such as the Burma Defense War, the major international access routes for China's anti-Japanese front, the U.S. "Flying Tigers," and the counteroffensive campaigns in northern Burma and western Yunnan. The central theme of this part is to discuss the strategic position and role of Yunnan in the Eastern Front of the World Anti-Fascist War.
Part 3 is titled "U.S. and Soviet Policies toward China during World War II." It separately discusses the U.S. "neutrality" policy in the early stages of the Anti-Japanese War and the Soviet policies toward China and Japan before and after Japan's surrender, analyzing their roles and impacts.
The views articulated by the author in the collection represent significant breakthroughs not only in historical and academic research but also hold positive and important practical implications.
