What are the signs of vulvar leukoplakia?

Patient's question:

Recently, I've been feeling a bit itchy in my private area, and it seems the color is a bit different, a bit whitish. When I went to the hospital for a check-up, they said it was leukoplakia of the vulva. I'm wondering, what are the signs of having leukoplakia of the vulva?

Doctor's answer:

Hello, for the treatment of vulvar leukoplakia, if it is not moderate or severe atypical fibrosis, 0.5-1% testosterone propionate ointment or 0.45% hydrocortisone ointment can be applied externally. Alternatively, 5 mg of prednisone acetate mixed with 20 mL of 0.25% procaine can be used to isolate the base of the affected area once a week, with 10 applications constituting one course. Oral vitamin A, B, E, and traditional Chinese medicine herbs such as honeysuckle, clematis, Sophora flavescens, Epimedium, Dendrobium candidum, and Tribulus terrestris can be decocted for internal consumption and external washing, along with acupoint laser irradiation.
Cryotherapy may be considered for moderate and severe atypical fibrosis or for older patients who do not respond to the aforementioned treatments. Surgical excision of the vulva may also be an option.
