Patient's question:
Recently, I've been feeling lower back pain and a heavy sensation in my lower abdomen. I'm not sure about going to the hospital for a check-up, but they said it's due to hydrosalpinx. Could you please tell me what harm can be caused by hydrosalpinx?Doctor's answer:
Hello,1. Tubal hydrops obstructs the combination of sperm and egg, leading to infertility. Tubal hydrops occurs after tubitis, or due to adhesion and self-locking, where the secretion of mucosal cells accumulates in the lumen of the fallopian tube. Alternatively, if tubitis recurs in the isthmus and fimbriae, adhesion and blockage can form tubal abscess. When the cells in the lumen are necrotized, they produce a watery liquid.
2. It can cause hemorrhagic infarction. If the fimbriae of the fallopian tube are completely self-locked, it can lead to tubal obstruction, thereby interfering with childbirth. Even if the self-locking is incomplete, the hydrops often destroys the fallopian tube mucosa. Severe tubal hydrops can even completely impair the normal function of the fallopian tube, causing it to reverse and lead to hemorrhagic infarction, among other issues, making it one of the causes of gynecological acute abdominal diseases.
