Language: Naming in Form: Chinese Poetry Criticism

Author: Zhang Shuguang et al
Publisher:
Publishing Date: 1999-11-01
Features: The compilation of this book began last autumn and was completed just as the New Year's Eve was about to ring. It goes without saying that compiling such a thick book, especially one related to poetry, poses considerable challenges. The fact that it was completed can only be attributed to the standards we set for ourselves and our patience in working on it. We are indeed aware of what it means to work on poetry in this era. And we hope that through reading this book, people can understand that in this period of dramatic changes in our lives, poetry, as the oldest way humans have known to understand the world, has not abandoned its consistent stance. It still pursues love, ideals, and beauty as its goals, while at the same time, it does not rigidly cling to the "ancient" without pride. Instead, it seeks paths of change through its admiration for vitality. If we treat "possibility" as an element, then for poetry, it certainly exists. The completion of any work is inseparable from the support of all participants. For this, we want to thank the poets and critics who contributed their works. In our eyes, it is not just that they offered their works imbued with their hearts and souls, but their very existence as individuals demonstrates that the work we have done is meaningful. Of course, we also want to thank People's Literature Publishing House and the specific editors in charge of reviewing this book, Wang Peiyuan and Wang Qingping. As a crucial part, without their responsible attitude and strong support, it would be unimaginable for this book to eventually reach the public. Lastly, we also want to thank Ms. Liu Lian'an, who has consistently helped and promoted the development of poetry, as well as the others who silently supported this book. Perhaps, in a certain sense, their support is even more critical and important.
