Some of its articles have been translated and introduced abroad by "Social Sciences in China." "Historical Research" was first launched in 1954, being one of the earliest philosophy and social sciences journals established after the founding of the People's Republic of China. Over the past half-century, "Historical Research" has published approximately 4,000 articles, collectively representing and reflecting the achievements of several generations of historians in the new China. The authors range from the renowned historical giants like Guo Moruo, who had already gained fame by the mid-20th century, to the emerging scholars who have only begun to shine in the new century. This reflects the highest level of development and evolutionary direction of Chinese historical studies over the past fifty years. Therefore, in terms of the development and evolution of academic history, the fifty years of "Historical Research" can be seen as a microcosm of the development of historical studies in the new China. To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the launch of "Historical Research," we have compiled this series of books.
