Features: The College English Application Ability Test is a teaching examination approved by the Ministry of Education. Its target examinees are students from vocational colleges, ordinary universities, and adult higher education institutions. After completing the content specified in the "Basic Requirements for English Teaching in Higher Vocational and Community College Education," students can participate in this test. The test was piloted in 1998 and officially implemented in 2000. It is divided into two levels: Level A and Level B. Level A is the standard level, covering all the content of the Basic Requirements. Level B is slightly lower than Level A. Except for minor differences in question types, the vocabulary requirements for the two levels are also different. Level A requires a vocabulary of 3,200 words, while Level B requires 2,500 words. The purpose of this test is to assess both the examinees' fundamental knowledge and skills in English and their ability to apply language in practical contexts. In terms of language fundamentals, the test evaluates language knowledge and the skills of reading, listening, translation, and writing, but not oral communication skills. In terms of language ability, it places emphasis on the examinees' ability to understand and use the content related to daily communication and foreign-related business communication as specified in the Basic Requirements.
The Level B test consists of five major question types: Listening Comprehension, Grammar, Structure, and Vocabulary; Reading Comprehension; English-Chinese Translation; and Short Essay Writing. To provide candidates with a deeper understanding of the test paper composition, question types, content, and difficulty level of the Level B test, as well as to offer more practice opportunities, we have compiled this set of mock tests. This book includes: 10 sets of mock tests, two sets of latest full-length test papers with standard answers, audio transcripts, and detailed explanations for each question, along with a CD-ROM. This book is strictly compiled according to the "Syllabus for the College English Application Ability Test." It is highly instructive and targeted, effectively combining language knowledge with practical application. The content is fresh, the themes are diverse, and the difficulty level of the questions is moderate. Most of the passages and exercises are selected from original publications, making the language not only authentic but also practical. This helps candidates effectively improve their English proficiency and test-taking skills in a short period of time.
It must be pointed out that the purpose of compiling this book is solely to provide candidates with concrete and practical examples of the College English Application Ability Test. To achieve good results, candidates need to study diligently and work hard on their textbooks. This book is merely a review material to be used after mastering the textbook.
