Features: The BOS examination was jointly developed by the KoBaLT Group, formed by the University of Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate (UCLES) and other members of the Association of Language Testing Authorities (ALTE). As an authoritative professional foreign language proficiency test, BOS aligns its standards with those of the ALTE. This examination has been promoted and recognized in over 30 countries and regions nationwide. BOS offers four different examination formats: the Comprehensive Examination, Computer-based Examination, Oral Examination, and Writing Examination. The BOS Computer-based Examination adopts advanced "adaptive" technology, accurately and swiftly determining candidates' foreign language proficiency and providing immediate test results. In March 2004, the Human Resources Department, Personnel Examination Center, and the British Embassy's Cultural and Educational Office announced the launch of the BOS examination in mainland China. The British Council is responsible for quality supervision and distribution, while the Human Resources Department, Personnel Examination Center serves as the sole agent for the promotion and sales of BOS in mainland China. Currently, as sub-agents for the BOS examination, there are 13 recognized examination institutions across 13 provinces and cities, including Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin, Chongqing, Hebei, Liaoning, Jiangsu, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Xi'an, Hangzhou, Xiamen, and Qingdao, providing related services for enterprises, institutions, and industry professionals.
