Patient's question:
These days, when I wash my underwear, I always find a lot of cheesy-looking discharge on them, and it smells very bad. I also feel like my private area is always damp and a bit itchy, and my lower abdomen feels uncomfortable. Could you please recommend where to go for trichomoniasis?Doctor's answer:
Trichomoniasis. Caused by the blood-borne pathogen Trichomonas vaginalis, it is spread through sexual contact or indirectly (through hot tubs, bathtubs, swimming pools, clothing, sterile gauze, and industrial-contaminated medical devices, etc.), primarily characterized by vulvar itching, increased vaginal discharge, and a thin, yellow, foamy discharge. In severe cases, the discharge may contain blood. Symptoms may also include a burning sensation, pain during intercourse, and, if accompanied by urethral infection, frequent urination, painful urination, or even hematuria. Treatment typically involves oral metronidazole and vaginal suppositories, with a course of 7–10 days. Additionally, 1% lactic acid solution can be used to rinse the vulva. The partner should also be treated simultaneously, and sexual activity should be avoided during treatment.
