Publishing Date: 2005-07-01
Features: Surface water is the main source of water supply for urban areas in China, and surface water intake engineering is a crucial component of urban water supply systems. This book systematically summarizes the survey and design, construction technology, and operation management of surface water intake engineering, and conducts theoretical analysis and research based on actual engineering practices. The main contents of this book include river hydrological calculations; the selection of locations and forms of various fixed and mobile intake structures; process design and calculations for special intake structures; design and calculations for various types of intake heads, water diversion facilities, and pump houses; electrical and automatic control design for intake structures; as well as construction, operation, and maintenance management of intake engineering. This book can be used by technical personnel engaged in the design, construction, and operation management of water intake engineering, as well as by water resource management personnel, municipal engineering professionals, and students and teachers of water supply and drainage in colleges and universities.
[Preface]
Preface The vast majority of urban water supply in China relies on surface water as its source, and surface water intake engineering is an essential part of urban water supply systems. Therefore, only by ensuring high-quality engineering design, construction, and post-construction operation and management can urban safe water supply be guaranteed. To achieve this goal, the authors compiled the book Surface Water Intake in 1986. Since its publication, nearly 20 years have passed. During this period, significant changes have occurred. The technical standards, codes, and regulations referenced in the original book are largely outdated or have been phased out, and the materials, equipment, and instruments used in intake engineering have been updated. Technological advancements have also continued, making the content of the original book no longer suitable for current needs. Therefore, it is objectively necessary to revise and supplement the book.
This revision of Surface Water Intake was carried out on the basis of the authors' research, collection of extensive data and engineering cases, and integration of their years of practical experience. It systematically and comprehensively elaborates on theoretical and practical aspects, including hydrological calculation theories and methods, the location and form of intake structures, the design of intake heads, water diversion facilities, pump house processes, structures, and electrical systems, as well as construction and operation management. The content and organization of the entire book have been adjusted and enriched to make it more complete, striving to meet current demands. After revision, the book has been renamed Surface Water Intake Engineering.
Due to China's vast territory, the hydrological, water quality, meteorological, topographical, and geomorphological conditions of rivers, lakes, seas, and oceans vary greatly, and the scales of intake engineering also differ significantly. Additionally, limited by objective conditions and the authors' expertise, the content of the book may not be entirely perfect, and shortcomings may inevitably exist. We welcome readers' criticism and corrections.
