Patient's question:
I am 45 years old. Three months ago, a thorough examination revealed a tendency to develop uterine fibroids. I am particularly concerned about the negative impact on my health. I would like to ask what are the symptoms of uterine fibroids?Doctor's answer:
I. Uterine bleeding is the main symptom of uterine fibroids, recurring in more than half or more of the patients. Among them, cyclic bleeding (excessive menstrual flow, prolonged menstrual period, or prolonged menstrual cycle) is more common, accounting for about 2/3, while non-cyclic bleeding (persistent or irregular) accounts for 1/3. The bleeding is mainly caused by intramural fibroids and submucosal fibroids, with cyclic bleeding more frequently occurring in intramural fibroids. Submucosal fibroids often manifest as irregular bleeding, while subserosal fibroids rarely cause uterine bleeding, with some cases even showing an increase in menstrual flow.
