Patient's question:
Lately, I've been feeling itchy down there, and I even scratched it, which is very painful and uncomfortable. I went to the hospital for a check-up, and they said I have leukoplakia of the vulva. I'm really struggling with this. Where is the best place to treat leukoplakia of the vulva?Doctor's answer:
Hello, for the treatment of vulvar leukoplakia, if it is not moderate or severe atypical fibrosis, 0.5-1% testosterone propionate ointment or 0.45% hydrocortisone ointment can be applied externally. Alternatively, 5 mg of prednisone acetate mixed with 20 mL of 0.25% procaine can be used as a base isolation in the affected area, once a week, with 10 treatments constituting one course. Oral vitamin A, B, E, and Chinese herbal medicines such as honeysuckle, clematis, Sophora flavescens, Epimedium, Dendrobium candidum, and Tribulus terrestris can be decocted for internal consumption and external washing, as well as acupoint laser irradiation. For moderate and severe atypical fibrosis or in older patients who do not respond to the aforementioned treatments, surgical excision of the vulva may be considered.
