Menstrual volume is low, how to regulate it is reasonable and appropriate?

Patient's question:

I am a college student, female, only 34 years old. I am always worried about irregular menstruation affecting future fertility, and I feel embarrassed going to the hospital. Could you please advise: How can I regulate my period to have a heavier flow?

Doctor's answer:

Menstrual volume is low, possibly due to a history of miscarriage, which may be related to endometrial adhesion or poor endometrial growth. Poor endometrial growth could be linked to poor follicular development, abnormal menopause, or poor corpus luteum function after menopause, resulting in insufficient secretion of estrogen and progesterone. You can wait for a detailed ultrasound examination to assess the condition of the endometrium, and then have blood tests for the six major hormones between the third and fifth days of the next menstrual period in the morning on an empty stomach to check for any endocrine metabolic disorders. This will help in formulating a medication-based treatment plan. If these detailed examinations are normal, you can undergo menopause monitoring. If there is normal menopause and the endometrium reaches a thickness of over 8mm before menstruation, then a slightly reduced menstrual volume is not a problem.
