Methods that are effective in treating ovarian cysts

Patient's question:

I had a gynecological examination and found a left ovarian cyst. It was not treated at all. When I followed up, the ovarian cyst was still there but smaller, and there was mild cervical erosion. Please ask: What are the effective methods for treating ovarian cysts?

Doctor's answer:

Ovarian cysts can be physiological (meaning they are normal fluctuations in the menstrual cycle that can naturally disappear) or pathological (formed due to disease). Physiological cysts do not require surgery, while pathological cysts often need surgery for definitive diagnosis and additional treatment. For women of childbearing age, after discovering an ovarian cyst, the next course of action depends on the nature of the cyst. Ultrasound results are very helpful for diagnosis. If MRI indicates that the cyst is anechoic (without echoes) and non-segmented, it is advisable to wait and see for 3 months. After 3 months, a repeat MRI should be performed. If the cyst still exists, surgery should be considered to address the cyst. In most cases, cysts other than these are pathological and should be surgically diagnosed.
