Patient's question:
At first, I didn't feel anything uncomfortable, but recently, during intimacy with my husband, I've found it very dry, and I often feel itchy outside. After checking, they said it's leukoplakia of the vulva. I'm not very familiar with this disease. Could you please tell me how to treat leukoplakia of the vulva better?Doctor's answer:
Hello, for the treatment of vulvar leukoplakia, if it is not moderate or severe atypical fibrosis, 0.5-1% testosterone propionate ointment or 0.45% hydrocortisone ointment can be applied externally. Alternatively, 5 mg of prednisone acetate mixed with 20 mL of 0.25% prilocaine can be used to isolate the base of the affected area once a week, with 10 treatments constituting one course. Oral vitamin A, B, E, and Chinese herbal medicines such as honeysuckle, clematis, Sophora flavescens, Epimedium, dictamnus, and tribulus terrestris can be decocted for internal consumption and external washing. Additionally, acupuncture laser irradiation and cryotherapy can be used for moderate and severe atypical fibrosis, or in cases where older patients do not respond to the aforementioned treatments, surgical excision of the vulva may be considered.
