Why ask about a history of miscarriage when doing a non-invasive procedure?

Patient's question:

At 14 weeks, I had NIPT (Non-Invasive Prenatal Testing). Due to personal reasons, I don't want to disclose my history of miscarriage to the doctor. Will hiding this information affect the test results? Why does NIPT ask about a history of miscarriage?

Doctor's answer:

Non-invasive genetic testing, also known as non-invasive prenatal genetic testing, non-invasive prenatal genetic testing, non-invasive fetal chromosome aneuploidy testing, etc. The general indications for testing are: 1. Risk rate test values in prenatal screening reports, where 1/1000 ≤ Down syndrome ≤ 1/270, 1/1000 ≤ 18-trisomy syndrome ≤ 1/350, and 1/1000 ≤ 13-trisomy syndrome ≤ 1/350. 2. Contraindications for prenatal diagnosis, such as threatened miscarriage, fever, bleeding tendency, and unresolved infections during pregnancy. 3. If the gestational week exceeds 20 weeks + 6 days, the optimal time for serological screening or prenatal diagnosis has been missed.
