Where is it good to check for trichomoniasis?

Patient's question:

In recent days, the external genital area has been particularly itchy, and there is a significant amount of discharge. Now, every time I urinate, it causes pain. I don't know what might be causing this, and I'm looking for a place to get tested for trichomoniasis.

Doctor's answer:

Trichomoniasis. Caused by the blood pathogen Trichomonas vaginalis, it is spread through sexual intercourse or indirectly (through hot tubs, bathtubs, swimming pools, clothing, sterile gauze, and industrial-contaminated medical devices, etc.), primarily manifesting as vulvar itching, increased vaginal discharge, and foamy, pale yellow discharge. In severe cases, the discharge may contain blood, accompanied by a burning sensation, pain during intercourse. If accompanied by urethral infection, it may cause frequent urination, painful urination, or even hematuria. Treatment typically involves oral metronidazole and the insertion of metronidazole suppositories into the vagina, with a course of 7-10 days. At the same time, 1% lactic acid solution can be used to rinse the vulva. The husband should also be treated concurrently, and sexual activity should be avoided during the treatment period.
