Jile would complete the entire journey alone, lasting three years, passing through 165 degrees of longitude, equivalent to half the Arctic Circle, with a total distance of 10,000 kilometers. On September 12, 2001, on his desert birthday, and still under this same window, the same twilight, Liao Jia arrived with a car covered in the dust of his expedition! She parked the car at the spot where Jile's sled had stopped. The window was open, and I saw Liao Jia get out of the car and call my name. It felt surreal! A dizzy spell overcame me.
