Features: Diseases transmitted through sexual intercourse are called sexually transmitted diseases (STDs). The classic or traditional STDs include five types: syphilis, gonorrhea, chancroid, lymphogranuloma venereum (LGV), and granuloma inguinale (donovanosis). Sexually transmitted infections (STIs) are diseases caused by sexual activities (such as vaginal intercourse, anal intercourse, kissing, and touching) that lead to transmission between sexual organs, as well as diseases transmitted through sexual organ external contact (direct or indirect contact). The scope of STIs is broader than that of venereal diseases (VD), and the transmission pathways are far more numerous and complex. Therefore, there are now over 20 types of STIs, and with the addition of STI syndromes, the changes are not just an increase in quantity but also an update in concepts, which is an inevitable development in medical progress. This book is a summary of over a decade of experience in the diagnosis and treatment of STIs and clinical practices at our hospital. It is also the result of the collective efforts of all the dermatology colleagues and interns at our hospital. The book aims to be simple and practical, using a picture-based approach to identify diseases in conjunction with clinical symptoms to understand the diagnosis and differential diagnosis of several common STIs in China, as well as the current common and effective treatments. This book will serve as a valuable reference for not only grassroots doctors, postgraduate and undergraduate students in medical schools, but also for clinical dermatologists and interns. Additionally, it serves as a good read for other healthcare professionals and patients.
