Can I get pregnant with pelvic effusion and breast hyperplasia?

Patient's question:

28-year-old female has been feeling very tired for a while and found out she was sick after checking into the hospital. Question: Can she still get pregnant with pelvic effusion and breast hyperplasia?

Doctor's answer:

Breast hyperplasia does not interfere with pregnancy. A thick endometrium also does not rule out the possibility of pregnancy. If your period is delayed by a week, you should carefully test with a pregnancy test kit. There is no need to take medication for now. Lower abdominal heaviness, bloating, and mild pain could indicate that your period is approaching. You should only test with a urine early pregnancy test kit once your period is delayed. The earliest you can test with a pregnancy test kit is two weeks after intercourse. An ultrasound can typically detect pregnancy about 10 days after the menstrual period has stopped. This is normal for many people, so if you have no other discomfort, there is no need to worry. It is recommended to have a gynecological examination and follow-up ultrasound after your period is completely gone. If the gynecological examination shows no abdominal tenderness and the ultrasound indicates increased pelvic fluid, treatment is not necessary.
