Greek and Roman mythology

Author: Liu Lianqing (ed.)

Features: This book is translated based on the book "MYTHSOFGREECEANDROME." We chose this book mainly because of its concise content and lively narration, which can satisfy the current pursuit of readers for "short, flat, and fast" reading pleasure. The original state of things is inevitably rough, but natural unadornedness is closer to the true nature. Regarding the content of the book, the translator has made some additions and deletions. In the chapter "The Trojan War," we have highlighted the "moral and ethical" significance inherent in this story, making the work more socially and timely, and more valuable for understanding. The names of characters in this book are generally translated according to the "Greek Myths and Mini-Dictionary" published by the Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press. For names not included in that book, we have tried to use the most common translations. Greek and Roman mythology are the cradles of humanistic thought in Western culture, and the core of this culture emphasizes individual ability and personal value. However, it does not exclude the role of collective strength at critical moments. In the stories we have read, readers will surely feel that the achievement of individual goals always relies on the help of others, such as Jason stealing the Golden Fleece and Theseus escaping the labyrinth, and so on.
