Patient's question:
A 25-year-old female, who usually has her period on the 1st, hasn't arrived yet, and she's feeling a bit uncomfortable in her stomach. Her discharge is white and particularly abundant. Could she be pregnant because she didn't use protection during her fertile period last month?Doctor's answer:
If you have regular sexual activity and your period is delayed, you should first rule out the possibility of pregnancy. It is recommended to use a pregnancy test kit or have a blood test to check for human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG). Blood tests do not require fasting. Two weeks after sexual intercourse, a pregnancy test kit can detect whether you are pregnant. It is more accurate to use first-void urine for testing. A blood test for hCG 7 to 10 days after sexual intercourse can rule out the possibility of pregnancy.
