Can I ask Dad to help remove the excess breast milk?

Patient's question:

Baby has been born, but as a new mom, there are many things I don't understand yet. Could you please ask the doctor if it's okay for the baby's dad to help remove the excess breast milk?

Doctor's answer:

Hello, if the mother's breast milk is too much and the child cannot eat it all, the father can help by expressing it. However, after expressing, attention should be paid to cleaning the nipples. Exclusive breastfeeding should be continued for at least 4 to 6 months. While providing complementary foods appropriately, if possible, it is recommended to focus on breastfeeding until the baby is 1.5 years old or even longer. Around 1 to 2 months of age, some mothers may feel that the baby is easily hungry after each feeding and the interval between feedings is extended.
