Patient's question:
Why do I feel so unwell during breastfeeding, as if my whole body is collapsing? I was even tested for rheumatoid arthritis, experiencing joint pain all over my body. I don't know how breast milk is formed, and is it okay for the baby to sleep while sucking on the breast?Doctor's answer:
During breastfeeding, ensure the baby latches onto the nipple and areola to fully stimulate milk production. For each feeding, start with one breast and then switch to the other. Alternate breasts for the next feeding. After breastfeeding, gently clean the nipples with warm water. Avoid squeezing the breasts and do not let the baby sleep with the nipple in their mouth for long periods. If the nipples are slightly cracked, apply fish oil locally after feeding to promote breast recovery. After each feeding, gently lift and massage the breasts for 10 minutes.
