Is the test paper watermarked pregnant?

Patient's question:

After my husband and I got married, we had sexual intercourse without using contraception. Now, it's time for my period to arrive, but it hasn't come yet. I used a pregnancy test kit and found a faint line. I want to ask if a faint line on a pregnancy test kit means pregnancy?

Doctor's answer:

The white watermark in area T of the test paper does not indicate pregnancy. Generally, if the test paper is pregnant, it will show two red lines. If the time is too short, the test paper may not be able to detect it. It is recommended to go to the hospital for a blood test and check for hCG to see if you are pregnant. After ruling out the possibility of pregnancy, delayed menstruation may be caused by factors such as environmental changes, emotional fluctuations, and stress from studying and working. Some organic diseases may also lead to delayed menstruation.
