How long does it take to wean off breastfeeding once a day?

Patient's question:

First time having a baby, I was clueless and fumbled around. As soon as the baby finished pooping, I couldn't wait to feed him, afraid he'd get hungry. Whenever he cried, I quickly picked him up to feed him, but he never drank much. This made it impossible to keep track of feeding times, and his sleep schedule was completely disrupted.

Doctor's answer:

Two-month-old babies are usually fed every 4 hours, totaling six times a day, with each feeding amounting to about 100 milliliters. The total amount of milk an infant needs in a day is approximately equal to their weight in kilograms multiplied by 100-120 milliliters. The total amount of breast milk should not exceed 1000 milliliters per day and should be fed 5-6 times. Each feeding can be 150-180 milliliters. When the first feeding is finished, add 20-30 milliliters for the second feeding. If they can finish it all, you can add another 20-30 milliliters. Even if a two-month-old baby can consume more than 200 milliliters of formula, they should only be given 200 milliliters per feeding, no more. If they cry in between feedings, you can add warm water during the second feeding.
