Is it necessary to have a second child if the firstborn is a son?

Patient's question:

Female, 33, now my eldest child is already 8 years old, and I am currently planning to have a second child. Should I have another child since my firstborn is a son?

Doctor's answer:

In the case where the first child is a boy, the expectant parents had beautiful hopes before considering having a second child, believing that the second child might be a girl, at least with a 50% chance. That's why they bravely decided to have a second child. However, after the baby was born and they discovered it was still a boy, they had to accept the gender of the second child after a small sense of disappointment. Regardless, the child is still their own flesh and blood, and their love for the child will never be affected by gender.
