Does ultrasound cause brown discharge?

Patient's question:

Brown discharge has lasted for 10 days. The past two days have seen no brown discharge, but there are blood streaks in the white discharge. Ultrasound shows the endometrium is 0.6 cm. Shouldn't I be getting my period?

Doctor's answer:

During different phases of the menstrual cycle, the thickness of the endometrium varies. Generally, before the onset of menstruation, the endometrium tends to be thicker. Based on your endometrial thickness, it doesn't necessarily mean you are about to have your period. However, if there are abnormal hormone levels in your body, it may also lead to the shedding of the endometrium. It is recommended that you undergo a gynecological examination to observe whether there is any cervical bleeding. If it is confirmed that the bleeding is not from the cervix but from the uterus, you will need to have blood tests to check your hormone levels and then undergo treatment.
