What does FHR mean in fetal heart monitoring?

Patient's question:

I had a fetal heart rate monitoring at 37 weeks and 2 days. I noticed on the computer there was a column labeled FHR, and the numbers kept changing. My highest reading reached 169, and then the numbers kept fluctuating. However, the doctor said everything was normal. I want to ask, is reaching 169 normal? What does FHR mean?

Doctor's answer:

This is a very normal fetal heart rhythm, which is the same as an adult's heart rate and can fluctuate occasionally. During fetal movement, it may occasionally exceed 170, which is also normal. As long as the fetal movement is normal and the fetal heart monitoring is normal, it is sufficient to regularly perform prenatal check-ups. If the fetal heart rate needs to increase after fetal movement, the baby's heartbeat will be faster. Generally, it is relatively stable, occasionally a bit faster or slower, which is all normal.
