Is a 28-week placenta at Grade 0 normal?

Patient's question:

I've been pregnant for a long time now. Calculating it out, it's about 30 weeks, or 7 and a half months. There's not much time left until the delivery. During this period, I've been very careful. A few days ago, when I went to the hospital for a check-up, they found that the placenta is at level 0. I want to ask if this result is normal?

Doctor's answer:

At 40 weeks of pregnancy, the estimated due date is reached. The actual delivery time can be 1-2 weeks earlier than the estimated due date.
The placenta is currently at stage 0, which is normal. Generally, before delivery, the placenta progresses to stage 1, then transitions to stage 2, which indicates maturity. Finally, it reaches stage 3, which means it has aged.
You are currently 30 weeks pregnant. It is recommended to engage in appropriate activity during the day and adopt a side-lying position when resting. Monitor fetal movements regularly and ensure they are normal. Also, visit the hospital regularly to monitor the fetal heart rate.
