Is the success rate of a high-quality blastocyst high?

Patient's question:

I have undergone IVF, and it wasn't successful on the first try. There were no frozen embryos. There were two blastocysts developed in the later stage, one of which is a high-quality blastocyst. Is the success rate high for a high-quality blastocyst?

Doctor's answer:

The success rate is still relatively high. In conventional in vitro fertilization, the fertilized egg generally needs to be cultured in vitro for 2 to 3 days, dividing into 4 to 8 cells before being implanted into the uterus. At this stage, the survival rate and developmental condition of the fertilized egg cannot be predicted, and the success rate is generally between 20% and 40%. If the blastocyst stage embryo in vitro culture technique is adopted, the embryo can be further cultured for 4 to 5 days, allowing the fertilized egg to survive in vitro and develop into early blastocysts or expanded blastocysts. Then, blastocysts with rapid and uniform division are selected for implantation into the uterus, with a success rate reaching 50% to 70%.
