Why can't CT detect uterine fibroids?

Patient's question:

I am 22 years old this year. A while ago, I wasn't feeling well, so I searched online for related symptoms and thought I might have uterine fibroids. I wanted to check it myself, so I'm asking: can uterine fibroids be detected with a CT scan?

Doctor's answer:

This condition requires examination. Generally, this cannot be detected through CT scans, so it is recommended that you go to a regular hospital for a check-up. Just this one examination is not sufficient. Only substantial lesions can be seen, while functional lesions cannot. If you are pregnant, an early pregnancy test should also be conducted. Currently, abdominal pain cannot be definitively attributed to gynecological issues. Abdominal pain needs to be analyzed based on the specific location of the pain, whether there is tenderness, and whether bowel movements are normal. Conditions such as enteritis or ureteral stones could all be potential causes.
