Patient's question:
Please let me know that because I need to go to work, I always express my breast milk and store it in the refrigerator. How should I thaw it and heat it?Doctor's answer:
Before feeding a baby, frozen or chilled breast milk should be thawed and heated to an appropriate temperature. During refrigeration, milk can be consumed as long as it is heated with hot water. When heating and storing breast milk, remove the breast milk from the refrigerator and place it in a bowl of warm water (the temperature should not exceed 60℃) to reach the desired temperature, then transfer it to a bottle for feeding.1. Do not heat directly (e.g., heating directly over a flame) or use a microwave to warm frozen milk.
2. It is normal for warm breast milk to appear slightly cloudy; you can shake the bottle and feed the baby.
3. Refrigerated breast milk is best consumed within 72 hours. Thawed breast milk should be used as soon as possible within 3 hours.
