Patient's question:
I am 31 years old, female. Recently, I have been feeling lower back pain and a heavy sensation in my lower abdomen. I went to the hospital for a check-up, and they said I have blocked fallopian tubes. Please ask: What are blocked fallopian tubes?Doctor's answer:
The uterus is like an upside-down pear shape. The tube that connects this uterine horn to the ovary is called the fallopian tube. Fallopian tube blockage refers to this fallopian tube experiencing a re-blockage. What happens after the fallopian tube is blocked? We know that the egg released by the ovary is released into the abdominal cavity and picked up by the fallopian tube's infundibulum. The egg waits at the junction of the ampulla and isthmus of the fallopian tube until sperm arrives. Then, at the junction of the ampulla and isthmus of the fallopian tube, the sperm and egg combine to form a zygote. The zygote then moves towards the uterine cavity and, approximately 6 days after menopause, it reaches the uterine cavity and implants to form an embryo. If the fallopian tube is blocked, the sperm and egg cannot meet in the fallopian tube, which will lead to infertility.
