1. The textbook authors' understanding of language and literature is language and literature. Therefore, when selecting works, they focused on two aspects: the aesthetic beauty of language forms and literary quality. For example, a significant number of ancient Chinese literary works with lyrical beauty were selected; a substantial number of contemporary and modern works created using innovative techniques, such as realism, black humor, and magical realism, were also chosen. Since literature is the study of humanity, special emphasis was placed on selecting works that embody intrinsic humanistic literacy and care.
Considering the strong cognitive abilities of middle school students, the textbook strives to broaden its scope of knowledge and extend it beyond the textbook, making it an open-ended resource. This is particularly evident in the "Author and Work" and "Annotations" sections, which provide both detailed literary information and concise bibliographies. This allows students to explore related extracurricular reading after studying the lessons, thus giving the textbook an open-ended nature.
The "Questions and Reflections" are designed to be concise, mostly consisting of thought-provoking questions, and their answers are often not unique. It is hoped that through this exercise, students will develop the ability to think independently and not blindly follow others. Additionally, literary knowledge is appropriately introduced to enhance students' further understanding of literature.
The textbook specially designed the "Post-Lesson Insight" section for students to express their own views. This directly reflects the teaching philosophy that students are the protagonists, ensuring they are no longer passive learners in the process. Based on the educational philosophy of "learning through enjoyment," the "Brain Teaser" section includes humor, satire, or inspiration, all aiming to cultivate students' interest in language.
