Can a 30-day menstrual delay be an ectopic pregnancy?

Patient's question:

Female, 29 years old. My husband and I have been actively trying to conceive. Recently, I found out I was pregnant using a pregnancy test, and I also experienced a missed period, just like a normal pregnancy. However, my HCG levels are very low. The doctor suspects it might be an ectopic pregnancy. I am very worried. Could a 30-day missed period be an ectopic pregnancy?

Doctor's answer:

Based on the data you mentioned, it appears to be pregnancy, but a single check cannot confirm whether it is normal. In your case, do not worry too much. Rest well, avoid sexual activity and strenuous exercise. At this point, it cannot be confirmed whether it is an ectopic pregnancy. Different causes lead to different symptoms. Patients need to go to a formal Grade-A hospital for systematic and standardized examination as soon as possible according to their own condition, so that they can be treated accordingly. In addition, patients need to maintain a regular routine, take good care to prevent cold and keep warm, eat light and soft foods, ventilate frequently, and drink more hot water.
