What are the symptoms of pseudocondyloma acuminatum of the external genitalia?

Patient's question:

I am a 20-year-old female, and I have been menopausal for the past two years. However, recently I have been experiencing intense itching in my outer and vaginal areas, and the odor of my discharge is also quite strong. Could you please tell me: What are the symptoms of pseudocondyloma of the vulva?

Doctor's answer:

Condyloma acuminata may not cause pain or itching in its early stages, and the rash may not be obvious. Most patients are generally asymptomatic. The severity and shape vary. It can be just a few, or it can be a large number of needle-like lesions. In the genital area, it can grow into large tumor-like masses, causing pressure sensation; it may have a foul odor; sometimes small warts can recur, causing pain, itching, and discomfort in the genital area, with symptoms such as hematuria and difficulty urinating. In clinical diagnosis, a cotton swab or gauze soaked in a 5% acetic acid solution can be tightly applied to the affected area. After 2-5 minutes, observe carefully: if it is condyloma acuminata, the local area will turn white, indicating a positive reaction; if it is pseudocondyloma, it will remain unchanged, indicating a negative reaction.
