Can cervical inflammation and vaginitis be cured?

Patient's question:

I am 28 years old, female. Recently, during sexual intercourse with my husband, I noticed some blood in my vagina. My leukorrhea has also increased significantly compared to before. Can cervical inflammation and vaginitis be cured?

Doctor's answer:

Cervicitis is a common disease among women of childbearing age, with two types: acute and chronic. Acute cervicitis often occurs concurrently with acute endometritis or acute vaginitis, but chronic cervicitis is more prevalent. Chronic cervicitis is usually caused by pathogens infiltrating the cervix after childbirth, miscarriage, or surgical injury. Chronic cervicitis has various manifestations, such as cervical erosion, cervical hypertrophy, cervical polyps, and cervical glandular cysts, with cervical erosion being the most common.
Advice: The recurrence of cervicitis is related to sexual activity. Natural or induced abortions, diagnostic (diagnostic curettage), and childbirth can all cause cervical injury, leading to inflammation. Adult women should pay attention to breastfeeding, avoid or reduce induced abortion procedures, and maintain postpartum hygiene to prevent postpartum infections.
