Patient's question:
I am 26 years old and recently had a thorough check-up at the hospital, where it was found that I have hydrosalpinx, which is preventing me from getting pregnant. Could you please tell me what are the causes of hydrosalpinx?Doctor's answer:
There are many reasons that can lead to fallopian tube hydrops: Unprotected sexual activity, excessive sexual intercourse, or sexual activity during menstruation may lead to a secondary occurrence of fallopian tube inflammation, thereby causing fallopian tube hydrops. Improper induced abortion and childbirth, postpartum, or post-abortion and postmenstruation, can all lead to adnexal infection, adhesion locking, and the accumulation of secretions from the mucosal cells within the lumen, or the recurrence of fallopian tube inflammation causing adhesion at the isthmus and fimbriae. The gradual accumulation of exudate and transudate within the fallopian tube lumen leads to fallopian tube hydrops.
