Features: This volume selects 27 works of Lenin from 1894 to 1907, covering his early revolutionary period, the period of founding the party, and the era of the first democratic revolution in Russia. Lenin began his revolutionary activities in the late 1880s. At that time, Russia had already become a capitalist country. The reforms of 1861 abolished serfdom and promoted the development of capitalism in Russia. However, due to the untouched autocratic system of the Tsar, the remnants of serfdom economic relations still existed in large quantities, severely hindering Russia's economic development and social progress, and its economic development level lagged far behind many other countries in Europe. With the development of large-scale industry, the working class stepped onto the historical stage. The class struggle between workers and capitalists grew increasingly intense, and the scale of workers' strikes became larger and larger. However, at this time, the workers' movement lacked organization and scientific socialist guidance, and was basically spontaneous. Due to the severe class differentiation in rural areas after the disintegration of the village commune, the vast majority of peasants suffered dual exploitation by both capitalism and the remnants of serfdom. The third section excerpts some works that focus on critiquing the strategies, economic programs, and political programs of the liberal populists, explaining the basic programs and strategies of the Social Democrats, and proposing the idea of an alliance between workers and peasants and the transformation of the democratic revolution into a socialist revolution. The preface briefly narrates the struggles between the Russian Marxist movement and the two factions within the Social Democratic Party from 1895 to 1907 regarding theoretical issues, party programs, organizational issues, and strategic issues, as well as the works included in the collection.
