Features: Our press has always been committed to publishing domestic books. In the field of the history of philosophy, with the strong support of generations of experts and scholars, we have published many significant works that have attracted worldwide attention, preserving valuable academic value and abundant intellectual wealth. To make these works more systematic and accessible for both new and seasoned scholars to study and reference, as well as to enrich cultural heritage, we have compiled them into the Library of Philosophers in the History of Philosophy. Philosophy is the "living soul of civilization." We hope that the Library of Philosophers in the History of Philosophy can contribute, however modestly, to the prosperity of philosophy and the advancement of civilization. We also hope that this series will continue to add new outstanding works.
This book focuses on the epistemological perspective, clarifying the various viewpoints and theories of ancient and modern Chinese philosophers regarding the sources of knowledge, methods and approaches to acquiring knowledge, and the standards of truth. These constitute the rich content of the theory of knowledge and action in traditional philosophy. The "theory of unity of knowledge and action in dialectical materialism" expounded in On Practice is closely linked to traditional philosophy in the problems it addresses. It is deeply rooted in the soil of traditional Chinese philosophy. Failing to recognize this point and failing to acknowledge that the problem of knowledge and action is fundamentally an epistemological issue will inevitably diminish the value of traditional Chinese philosophy and its important position in the history of world philosophy.
