"Pingu Learns English" is a multimedia learning textbook designed for children aged 4-12. After completing this course, children can reach Level 2 of the "Cambridge Young Learners English Tests." Child language education experts agree that joy, interest, and excitement help students remember and learn. Therefore, all teaching activities in this textbook are carried out through games, songs, chants, exercise activities, and some interesting stories.
This textbook places strong emphasis on increasing children's vocabulary during the learning process. Each lesson in this book includes a section titled "Students' Main Language," which lists several words and phrases for children to learn. These vocabulary items appear frequently, providing children with ample opportunities for practice and learning. Through the study of these two levels of textbooks, children can gradually build a vocabulary base to help them express themselves in English about things they encounter in daily life.
This textbook requires children to understand and gradually learn to use simple sentence structures. Children only need to respond to the sentences in the textbook and answer with one or two words. After children build confidence during the learning process, they are then expected to answer with longer phrases and sentences.
In the first level of the textbook, children primarily learn English through listening and speaking. This is because, compared to adults, children find it easier to master these two skills, while reading and writing are quite difficult for them. Starting from the second level, the textbook gradually guides children to recognize and write some familiar words in their daily lives. Since children already have some reading and writing skills in their mother tongue at this stage, the spelling and pronunciation rules of English, as well as the differences between English and Chinese, will not affect their learning and mastery of Chinese.
