Fortress Besieged (English-Chinese Parallel Translation)

Author: [USA] Kelly Mao Guoquan
Publisher:
Publish Date: 2003-10-01
Features: This book is a Chinese-English parallel edition of Fortress Besieged. In this book, I wanted to write about a certain part of modern Chinese society and a certain type of people. When writing about these people, I didn’t forget that they are human, just human, with the fundamental nature of hairless bipeds. The characters are naturally fictional, but those who have a penchant for research would certainly not miss the opportunity to seek hidden meanings or give free rein to their interpretations. It took me two full years to write this book. Over those two years, I was filled with sorrow for the world and its people, and I often thought of giving up. Fortress Besieged was first published in Shanghai in 1947, reprinted in 1948, and a third edition came out in 1949. After that, it was no longer reprinted domestically. Occasionally, I would stumble upon a new edition of it, and those were all pirated copies from Hong Kong. I haven’t seen the pirated copies from Taiwan, but I hear that it is a banned book there.
