Closely aligns with the new syllabus, selecting vocabulary from actual exam questions
This book is closely aligned with the 2005 postgraduate entrance exam English syllabus, based on the actual exam questions from the national postgraduate entrance exams from 1990 to 2004. Through computer frequency analysis, we found that in the annual postgraduate exam questions, there are about 2,000 core words each year, and these words appear in different forms of prefixes and suffixes. Therefore, we have selected a total of 2,055 high-frequency words within the syllabus from the actual exam questions, as well as 1,298 syllabus-excluded words marked with an asterisk, supplemented by a comprehensive appendix of common prefixes and suffixes, which can "catch all" the vocabulary needed for the exam. Additionally, the appendix of this book includes 2,776 common syllabus and four-six words not previously listed. This allows candidates to quickly memorize key points and master postgraduate exam vocabulary within 30 days, maximizing the reduction of blind spots in their study and preparation.
Equipped with authoritative translations and using actual exam examples
All word definitions in this book are based on the postgraduate exam syllabus, supplemented appropriately with references to authoritative English reference books and new contemporary texts. The book includes more than 2,000 examples from past exam questions, each accompanied by authoritative translations. This allows candidates to experience the context of actual exam examples while memorizing words, achieving "dual" and providing more practical opportunities for candidates.
Scientific letter sequencing for easy listening and memorization of words
The book is divided into 30 units, arranged scientifically according to the order of letter memorization, with four levels:
Level A (fewer than 50 new words per letter): Prioritize memorization—X, Y, Z, Q, J, K, U
Level B (50–150 new words per letter): Focus on memorization—V, W, O, N, L
Level C (150–300 new words per letter): Strengthen memorization—R, G, I, M, T, B, D, E
Level D (more than 300 new words per letter): Difficult memorization—C, P, S, A
Additionally, we refer to root, prefix, and suffix memorization, arranging them from fewer to more. The book also comes with a companion audio tape, allowing candidates to memorize while listening and read while studying. This not only greatly improves vocabulary memorization but also effectively enhances listening skills. "January Mastery + Audio Tape" enables candidates to use both listening and reading to memorize words effortlessly.
Detailed exercise answers with diverse and colorful formats
Each unit includes about 30 vocabulary exercises with detailed answer explanations in various formats, such as multiple-choice and fill-in-the-blank, some based on past exam questions and others on classic test questions. This method of learning and testing simultaneously, with segmented study, enhances candidate interest and improves learning efficiency.
Rich and novel content with unique memorization methods
In addition to phonetic symbols, part of speech, definitions, phrases, and expressions, the entries include entirely new content:
1) Smart Memorization: Lists related words, such as synonyms, antonyms, and etymology analysis.
2) Distinction Analysis: Lists words with similar meanings that are frequently tested, explaining their specific usage contexts. This helps candidates grasp vocabulary through analogy.
In summary, this book is not just a vocabulary guide but revolves around past exam questions, providing a collection of key points from annual exams. It enables candidates to master all essential postgraduate exam vocabulary within 30 days, improve their English proficiency, and achieve rapid breakthroughs in English learning.
Finally, we wish all candidates success in their postgraduate entrance exams!
