Features: The tiny Iceland covers only 100,000 square kilometers, yet it is home to over 100 volcanoes. Iceland spans the Mid-Atlantic Ridge (also known as the fissure), a part of the Earth's crust frozen system, from where lava erupts. Underground natural hot springs supply hot water to Icelandic homes, fill swimming pools, and allow them to grow unique crops, producing export products. As a result: the world's highest standard of living and clean air. The world's third-largest glacier covers most of Iceland's southeastern area, slowly moving toward the sea. Friction generated by the glacier's movement melts part of the ice, with water accumulating under the glacier to form lakes. When the lakes become too full, water will overflow from beneath the glacier, flooding fields and creating glacial outburst floods.
