Frances Eliza Hodgson Burnett was born in Manchester, England, in 1849. At the age of 16, she moved with her family to the United States. At 18, she began publishing stories in magazines. In 1886, she wrote her most famous novel, Little Lord Fauntleroy. In 1911, she completed her novel, The Secret Garden. She passed away in New York in 1924.
