The "30 Days to Master CET-4" series is a self-study book specifically designed for non-English majors (Public English) learners to achieve high scores in the National College English Test Band 4 (CET-4). The series consists of seven volumes: Vocabulary Preparation; Basic Knowledge; Listening; Reading; Grammar and Vocabulary; Cloze, Translation, and Short Answer; and Writing. The main creators of the series are teachers with years of experience in teaching CET-4 and CET-6, who are highly experienced in preparation guidance, and their students have achieved nearly a 100% pass rate in the CET-4 every year. The series also includes contributions from some top CET-4 and CET-6 test-takers in certain chapters, providing unique insights and valuable experience for students preparing to tackle the CET-4. This book is the Listening volume of the 30 Days to Master CET-4 series, covering the listening section of the National College English Test Band 4 (CET-4), accompanied by audio tapes for self-assessment before the exam. The listening section accounts for 20% of the total score. Before June 1997, the listening comprehension was composed of short conversations (Section A) and passages (Section B). However, starting from June 1997, a new listening dictation format replaced the passage section. The dictation section includes spot dictation and compound dictation. In past exams, the National College English Test Band 4 adopted compound dictation to replace passages in June 1997, January 1998, June 2001, and December 2002, among other times. As one of the listening preparation books for the CET-4, this book has the following features:
1. Scientific 30-day breakthrough! The 30-day breakthrough in this book is scientifically and reasonably divided based on the various parts of listening comprehension in the CET-4 and the content of the questions involved. Daily practice helps candidates systematically and comprehensively review listening in a short time, effectively manage study time, and gradually develop good listening habits and problem-solving skills.
2. Concise question explanations and solution guidance! Detailed question explanations and solution guidance provide step-by-step instruction on listening techniques, helping candidates familiarize themselves with the various question types in the listening exam, master strategies for each type, and improve listening comprehension skills. Accurately guide candidates in practicing questions, and select recent National College English Test Band 4 listening exam questions as examples for analysis, helping candidates better understand the latest trends in the exam, familiarize themselves with common scenarios and question types, and master problem-solving techniques.
3. Comprehensive question coverage and thorough explanations! The book provides a large number of exercises with fresh materials, diverse themes, and appropriate difficulty levels. Each set of questions is followed by listening scripts, answers, and explanations, making it highly practical and targeted for pre-exam intensive training. Candidates should follow the book step by step, practicing daily to achieve gradual improvement.
4. A highly humanized service system! Based on the Ebbinghaus Forgetting Curve, the book arranges a learning plan for readers. As long as candidates strictly follow the review plan, they can ensure learning effectiveness (see instructions for use). At the end of the book, we have prepared a learning diary page for readers to record daily study insights and key difficulties. After completing the book, readers can cut out and bind the diary for convenient review. The three authors who wrote this book are all experienced teachers with many years of teaching college English. They have studied a large amount of material and exercises in CET-4 listening teaching, deeply understanding the characteristics of the full question paper and having rich experience in CET-4 coaching. We hope this book will help candidates perform well in the listening section of the actual exam and achieve satisfactory results.
