Journal of Qingbo Annotations

Author: Zhou Hui (Song Dynasty)
Publisher:
Publishing Date: 2005-03-01
Features: Qingbo Zhaiji is a relatively well-known Song Dynasty miscellany that records anecdotes of famous figures from the Song Dynasty; preserves many lost writings, poems, and lyrics of Song people; documents the regulations, customs, and local products of the time. Zhou Hui's Qingbo Zhaiji is one of the more famous miscellanies among Song Dynasty notes. As the author's friend Zhang Guimu said in the preface to this book, its content is "about the past actions and deeds, as well as what was seen and heard." Some of the records in the book can be cross-referenced with other books to verify or compare differences, while those not recorded in other books can fill in the gaps, making it often cited by scholars as a very valuable reference for studying the history, society, thought, and culture of the Song Dynasty. To facilitate readers, we have conducted a thorough collation and annotation of the entire book; here, we briefly introduce the author, value, version, and our editorial work of this book.
