Features: Mi Fu (1050-1107) was an outstanding painter and calligrapher of the Song Dynasty. His original name was Mi Fu, styled Yuanzhang, and styled Haiyue Wai Shi, Xiangyang Wenshi, and self-styled Lumen Jushi. He was originally from Xiangyang (now part of Hubei) and later settled in Runzhou (now Zhenjiang, Jiangsu). He held the positions of Painting and Calligraphy Doctor and Vice Director of the Ministry of Rites. He was known as "Mi Nan Gong." Due to his eccentric personality, he was also called "Mi Dian" or "Mi Chui." Together with his son Mi Youren, they were known as the "Two Mies" or "Big and Little Mi." Both father and son were also collectors and connoisseurs of painting and calligraphy. They excelled in landscape painting, often creating scenes where misty trees and forests were shrouded in a sense of wind and rain. Mi Fu had an open and unconventional temperament, not following the crowd, and was exceptionally unrestrained. The clouds and mountains he painted, though inspired by Wang Qia, broke through ink with brushstrokes resembling Dong Yuan, yet they were truly derived from cursive script calligraphy, with endless variations. The natural mist and clouds appeared and disappeared, with peaks and mountains imposing, creating what was called "Mi Point Landscape." His ink paintings were lush and expressive, with misty clouds and simplified trees, skillfully colored and named "Mi's Cloudy Mountains." His works include "Cloud Rising Tower," "Ink Mountain," and "Spring Mountain Mist." His calligraphy works include "Cabinet Letter," among others. His running script was meticulous, forceful yet fluid, embodying strength within elegance. His writings include "Baojin Yingguang Collection," "Painting History," and "Painting Critique," among others.
